Memory Lane

When Ry and I were 19 and dreaming of our future and what we wanted to be when we ‘grew up’ we always knew we wanted to work on old houses… I don’t know why but its something we always wanted to do.  Its funny how when you do ‘grow up’ you really forget about how what you do every day was once a small idea that we decided to work towards.

Now over a decade and 2 kids later – we work on old timber houses every day and get paid to do it!    Its stressful, its a constant balancing act between work and home life and sometimes we just wish we could turn it off and just be invisible for a couple of days BUT when you think about it we are so lucky to get to do what we planned how ever long ago every day of our lives…

Our first big project was an old girl in the suburb of Camp Hill in Brisbane.  She was leaning to the right, her windows didn’t open and her stairs were so broken down and dangerous the real estate agent was a little worried about letting us go up into the house but it was instant love… I recently had a call from her new owners and they are wanting me to pop around to help them add a few bits and pieces and I’m so excited to get to go back and see her again… Its funny how these project really become part of our family… This was her…
