Why every home needs texture…

We are now well into the start of the new year, with the new year comes new trends and styles. We have a great feeling for 2022 and we are excited to see what’s in the works and what the design world is producing. As creatives we often source our trends, styles and insights from our fellow creatives, not just those in the interior design industry but through other industries. Looking at industries such as fashion, beauty, film and television we can predict and see where 2022 will take us, and trust me its exciting!

One of the easiest industries to see the upcoming trends is the Fashion industry. There is an obvious movement towards bold and bright colours - but delve a little deeper and you can immediately see the layers of texture. The layering of natural rough textures like raffia and leather as well as beautiful, detailed appliqués and silks creates a stunning look - and applying this to a home can have the same outcome!

But how do you layer everything I hear you ask!? Well keep it simple. Classic linens for larger items like Sofas, keeping tables in timbers, painted timber or plaster with a little texture and adding accessories with rattan, raffia and trims on cushions and lamps easily layer the texture in a space.

With the continuing social movement towards natural, organic and environmentally aware products we are seeing this being reflected in the interior design world. Natural elements, hand made and locally sourced are becoming more and more popular. With consumers being aware and conscious of this we are seeing more local artisan pieces and unique furniture and homewares being produced. We are loving this movement and have been motived to create our own range or fabrics, wallpapers, ready made cushions and furniture all launching in the coming months - if Covid behaves!!

If you need a little more help lets talk! We would love to help you make your home feel amazing and create a space thats all yours.
