Cushions… Every man’s nightmare, but (nearly) every woman’s dream! Depending on the size sofa you are working with we choose 3-4 cushions for a 2 seater and always 5 cushions for a 3 seater. For three seaters, layer a group of three on one side and two on the other. Two large backing cushions, two medium and one feature lumbar. This creates depth and a layered effect without taking up too much room.

Work on the rule of having a plain/geometric, a stripe/small print and a hero fabric. Layering these three elements along with sizes and textures in your cushions, will create the perfect cushion factor!

Tonal pattern matching is the easier of the 2 but harder to make a statement! Stick with the formula but try to use a pattern with a solid colour background to give it some pop!

Working with colour in your cushions uses the same principles, start with your hero fabric, from here you can pull the other colours for your stripe and your small print.Try to vary the scale of the patterns and make sure you have a mix of straight and organic patterns.

We love the Cushion Factor so much we designed and manufactured our own beautiful range of Cushions available from our Co Collection site! Check out our beautiful collection of fabrics, wallpapers and readymade cushions all curated, designed and manufactured right here in Australia!
