Three easy steps to layering.
One room, one colour, many tones. It may seem like a boring way to design a room, but its actually an opportunity to go wild with pattern and texture without the space feeling busy!
So these are our top tips for layering a single colour in various tones:
Add textures in your plain fabrics. The texture adds interest, creating shadowing in the weave and warming up the space.
Play with pattern in different styles and proportions.
eg. Trellis in an embroidery with a trellis in an ikat style.
eg. Smaller Proportioned Geometric with a larger proportioned geometric.
eg. Adding subtle pattern to the floor with a rug.
Adding natural tones and textures with simple timber detailing.
Bedside tables and Chair legs are a simple subtle way to add earthyness to a space.
If you have a white bedside table, add a rattan tray to earth it up and add texture.
