How to Nana Chic your home.

I have always firmly believed in using what you have. Not necessarily the old Ikea things you bought when you were in Uni, but more the pieces that your Nana gave you or that weird Chair your mum always had in the house you grew up in… I love the Element of Nana and what it brings to a home. But how do you make these weird old pieces chic in your home?

Im definitely not someone who has a house full of antiques. Although antique stores do make my heart rate go up a little! It’s a matter of finding pieces that, as Marie Kondo says, “Spark Joy!”

Whether that joy is in a memory or just an instant love, don’t be afraid to introduce a little Element of Nana!

A vintage chest is the perfect side table for the corner of my lounge room, the antique musical timber bowl was given to me by my fathers god mother. It’s such a beautiful piece. I still remember getting it from her when I was around 10 thinking what the hell am I going to do with a bowl with holes in it!? HA!

Three+tips.jpg
  1. Always mix the old and new. Layers make perfection.

  2. Don’t be afraid of different timber elements. A timber figurine, mixed with an old timber bowl in a different colour is fine!

  3. Choose antiques and vintage pieces with age and patina. It helps to add interest and means you don’t have to be as careful with them!
