Inside out.

Working with an interior designer, you will no doubt start to look at window coverings differently. They are a massive part of your interiors and can make or break a room. But did it ever occur to you they can also make or break your front facade!?

Windows and french doors are a pretty big part of your front facade and so is what you cover them with. For example. Roman blonds on the front of the house for us are a no no. They don’t look great from the back so you wouldn’t want them on the front of your house. If you have multiple windows and doors but mixup your window coverings you want to keep it symmetrical or keep them all the same. Windows and French doors are a massive investment and on Timber houses they can have the most spectacular detailing - so you want them to stand out for all the right reasons!!!

Things+to+consider.jpg
  • Shutters and Sheers look best from both sides (inside and outside)

  • If Block out curtains are needed, ensure there is space for them to bank on the wall either side of the window so when they are open during the day they don’t interfere with the windows.

  • Try to keep the colours the same on your window coverings from behind. Use the same lining throughout. If your curtains are patterned, hide it with linings from the outside.

  • If you have Windows and doors across the front of your home try to keep the coverings consistent - Doors Curtains, Windows Shutters.

  • Remember you can always hang curtains over Shutters to dress the room from the inside and keep it consistent on the outside.
